I'm back!
A majority of the pictures are on my phone, but you can see 22 photographs here. They were taken on the first two days, walking around Old Greenwich and driving around Todd's Point.
Not comprehensive or at all in order:
Stamford is lame. Greenwich is ridiculously wealthy (to me), and Old Greenwich has sooo many trees. Nothing like those trees down here. I remember we drove around the back country for two hours or so, and saw some adorable deer. To a native South Floridian, that is nuts. The babysitter took my nine year old cousin and I to Island Beach. The water was so cold but so great, and I consumed my very first veggie burger. Which wasn't really exciting. My uncle took us on his boat, and we swam to this sort of creek, Anna (my cousin) called it a river rapids ride. There was a rusted bridge overhead the current was really cold. I love swimming. I explored New York City one day, and walked 90 blocks in sandals, which was fun I guess. It's just interesting to see things, but I had absolutely no desire to take pictures there. Why is it that there are so many young women pushing baby strollers in the upper west side? Weird, man. The second day in the city I ended up walking 120 blocks, which was pretty extensive, but funny because I woke up at 7 after being used to 10 ish. My feet and legs didn't feel any sort of stress.. until the very end. I went up east, and it was on a hill; with every step my feet and legs screamed at me, and 7:00am caught up. That exhaustion is one of the best feelings though. I think I like the village best, but it definitely seems like it has the potential to be unbearably pretentious and sickening. At the end of every day, my aunt, cousin, me, grandma, and occasionally grandpa would it and talk about our days to each other. We cared. It was love time, and the most substantial thing I've learned on this trip.. just how important hugging and kissing and talking and sharing is for the soul. We were so happy! The whole trip I was reading the Chronicles of Narnia again, which is cute and lovely. The sweet air and golden light is too much. I need to get a keyboard, because I miss playing their piano. When my cousin (in her bunny slippers) and I were walking to an ice cream place by her house some night, she stopped by the graveyard and took off her hat. I asked, "Anna, what are you doing?" "I took off my hat cause we're by the graveyard.. they were all great people." "You know if they were all living.. imagine all of the volumes of peculiar histories they could write? And their travels, and everything, it spans for hundreds of years. It's just so much." "Yeaaaaah that would be nice.. but they don't do it. If they wrote everything, there would be nothing left to discover; it's the curiosity in life that makes it worth living."
